Natural treatment for dandruff use herbs

Dandruff is a big problem for many people, and finding a treatment that works can be a big challenge. Dandruff is actually a skin condition, although it is generally confined to the scalp area. It causes both embarrassment and irritation to those who have it. Most dandruff treatment options are quite simple, such as using a special shampoo that is available without a prescription. In more serious instances, or for problematic or stubborn dandruff, those people who have persistent dandruff that does not go away following traditional dandruff treatment, or that causes abscesses or sores on the scalp, may need to consult a dermatologist.

What Causes Dandruff?

Dandruff is caused by naturally occurring processes within the body. As skin is naturally shed from the scalp, it occasionally becomes noticeable. Sufferers may notice flakes in their hair or on their clothing, and may cause the scalp to itch which is a condition known as seborrhea. Dandruff is typically caused by the overproduction of oil or sebum in the sebaceous glands of the scalp. These are the glands that make oil and that work to assist the body in shedding dead skin. When someone has dandruff, their sebaceous glands are overactive, and they tend to shed more skin than the typical person. Dandruff can also be caused by a naturally occurring yeast fungus known as pityrosporum ovale. While this yeast fungus is not uncommon, if an individual has an overabundance of this fungus within the body, dandruff can develop. The unsightly condition can also be caused by psoriasis or excessive dryness.
